2010 UK Student Mountain Bike Champs

The highlight of the year for every UK student mountain biker fell on a long weekend in March, where the most anticipated race of the year took place, the 2010 UK Student Mountain Bike Champs!

University (and some college) students from all over the UK spent hours preparing for the weekend, intensively ‘training’ for the Saturday night party, prepping bikes (gaffa tape, zip ties and hammer fixing obligatory), finding a comedy outfit to ride in (ask George May about the pro’s and cons of taping a massive welsh flag to your head then racing dh through woods), and most crucially of all figuring out which is better value – gin, wine, cider, whiskey or beer?!

Aston Hill - England!

18:00 Saturday night we hauled it 275 miles back to Pinkbike UK HQ (Birmingham) landing back at midnight as the M6 was closed yet again J10-8! 05:30 up the crack of Dawn, whose Dawn? M40 southbound J9 and cross country to Aston Clinton and another 100 miles on the clock of the LWB Sprinter to Aston Hill.
