May 29, 2008Published by superflyMotor Tabs are a new and nifty nutrition tablet that dissolves quickly and simply into your 750ml water bottle or hydration pack.
Take away the messy powder base we are all used to, this is a large tablet that cleanly plops into your bottle, a few shakes and moments later, "Bobs your Uncle". Each small tablet is made up from 16g of carbs (dextrose, sucrose and maltodextrin), 250 milligrams of sodium and 75g of potassium. For those of you out in the saddle for a long days ride there can be no simpler product that fits compactly in your back pack for when you refill your bottle/hydration pack. They are conveniently sealed in an air tight and water proof wrapper that will keep sweat, rain and the dirt out.  I can't say I can review these for you, I'm not out on any long XC rides. I'm a DH racer so I'm fuelled by bacon and egg banjo's in the morning and if I'm lucky, a baked spud at lunchtime, followed by Scampi on the night with a few Magners. Taste? Well I hate grape so that flavors out for me but might be right up your street? Taste is all down to preference so it's not up to me to persuade you that the lemon and lime is the dogs (I thought it was). Now over to the men in white suits (I can only agree as my 8 O'Levels didn't cover Chemistry). Its kinda messed up that they have to put 2 different kinds of sugar in them. What about diabetic riders???
It's not "messed up" that they use two kinds of sugar in them. They only have 14 grams of sugar, and the two sugars are simple sugars, not complex sugars which are used in energy drinks. Energy drinks have complex sugars that provide a quick boost of energy, followed by an energy crash. Because the tabs have only 14 grams of simple sugars, there is no hard crash afterwards.
Also, if you are complaining about only 2 sugars in the tabs, you shouldn't even think of drinking energy drinks.
Also, not many companies have approached hydration this way, only a handful, and Motor Tabs is different in the sense that unlike other similar products, Motor Tabs has no artificial sweetener, and it also has carbs.
I suggest that everyone try some before they talk down on it.
