Renthal Chain Rings.

Renthall have landed on the MTB scene.
I know nothing about motorbikes. I'll prove it: I used to have a Honda Vison back in 1988 that flat out went 25mph. It even took 2 star petrol which back then was under 50p a liter. A full tank cost £2 and lasted me all week to Birmingham Wheels and back to skate Dickers Bowl.
What I do know about is Renthall, not a lot except that they are famous for their moto-x bars and sprockets..

NPS and 4X World Cup Rider Pat Campbell Jenner put these in my hand up at Fort william World Cup. Well he does after all work for the UK distributor ISON.
Now knowing Renthall are all about Moto-X when PCJ went to drop one of these in my hand I kind of took the brace position, expecting them to weigh a ton! What a surprise, they were as light as a feather, or two.. Straight over to the scales and 41grams popped up on the screen for a 34tooth ring.
Now I know the E-13 Guide Rings are light, so off to Pete from Silverfish with hand outstretched and on one knee. 34t G-Ring please..?
On the scales with that one and hey presto it is 9 grams lighter.
Therefore all you weight watchers may as well stick to the E-13 offering as well as the fact that they do all the odd teeth chain rings too: 32T, 33T, 34T, 35T, 36T, 37T, 38T and 39T etc..
If you are not bothered about 9grams then read on:
Renthall's Ultralite 4 Arm 104BCD (That is the standard bolt pattern these days) chainrings have definitely crossed over well from the Moto-X division. Superlight thanks to the intricate CNC machining out of the 7075-T6 Aluminum these look like a million dollars. An anodized coating means these will also last you the test of time and your hollow pin chain.
Renthall Ultralite Chain Rings are available in 32T, 34T 36T and 38T.
Now usually I won't write a review unless I can thrash the pants off a product. Therefore this is a first look of Renthall's offering and how nice it is to see another quality brand crossing over to the MTB market. You get the advantage of all their hard work, R&D initiative and products that they have been running for years without fault.
Renthall's reputation proceeds them so you know hand on heart these will not disappoint. If they do, we will let you know for sure.

The backside of the rings, Renthall have machined that channel out on both sides.

Plenty of difference, check the recessed holes for the head of the chain ring bolt. Keeping it nice and clean
Renthall have definitely landed. The looks, heavy duty without the weight and durable is the easiest way to describe these beauties.

looks nice, a little different.. i'll be checking them out come chainring changing time
if mtb renthal stuff is anything like their moto stuff, then they are going to be hot topics. Their moto stuff is the industry standard pretty much.

I saw these yesterday when my mate was browsing CRC, renthall do make nice mx stuff, should be interesting to see how these succeed.
looks like their selling aswell, low stock on the ison disty website already, might invest in one of these for my new build

Can you remember just how poor the corners were in Dickers. And that crappy plastic coping Stampy nailed on.

I use to run renthal chain rings and bars on my cr250, never had a problem. I just hope the bars come our way. I had some bad crashes, my bars never bent.
they look absolutely sick, but i think i may stick with my e*thirteen one that i bought a month ago. i wish i saw these first

A good look...anyone remember the old PACE / Renthal bars (blue Rizla thin)!? Wondering know if PACE chainrings were made by Renthal also? Looking forwards to getting a 32h
Ok, they weigh more and the E-13 ones are extremely string, haven't broken one yet, so why not just buy the e-13 unless of course they come out with Moutainbike bars....
trust me they are not the best................i have gone done many tests with different seasons i have a kinda no-name sproket its made of steel (heaveyer but WAY straonger and cheeper!!!!!
They look sick, I think its cool moto companies are stepping into dh, after all, its the same shit without an engine. Can't wait for the bars, hope they're real wide.
Look pretty good, and I know Renthal knows about moto-quality, should be a nice MTB addition. I've been running 'Rennen's rings(check em' out) on my BMX and MTB's for a while they are very sweet and durable rings as well. They're light, but thick as well, although the weight is not much of a concern of mine, I'd rather have em' last a while!
You people really need to learn to spell right if you want your articles to be taken seriously. This time you even got the bloody brand name wrong
